GRAVEL ADVENTURES
Nestling in open countryside with a variety of terrain, Nevers offers ample opportunities for gravel riding, interspersed with sections on very quiet country roads. Whether you pick the flat along the local waterways, or head for the challenges of the Morvan hills, there is something for all abilities.
Our friend Laurent Bouit has created a series of gravel rides in the Morvan that use rough single tracks along with some of the loveliest forest roads.
The biggest challenge of the series starts at Café Vélo Nevers offering 300k of pure pleasure that inlcudes 5,000 meters of climbing!

A circuit designed by bike manufacturer Look, which is based in Nevers. With about 50% off-road, you start off along the Loire, before circling north through forests and farmland before dropping back down to the river again for the return to Nevers.
A challenging loop that takes you to one of the highest points near Nevers through technical single-tracks, wide forest tracks and quiet country roads. With nearly 1,000m of total climbing, you have earned your beer when you get back to base!
The Tourmagne is a bikepacking gravel challenge. Registration is free and it's open to anyone who wants to get in the saddle for a 950-kilometre journey along beautiful roads in the Massif Bellifontain and the Seine Valley, the Gâtinais, the Loire Valley, the Nivernais and the Bourbonnais, the valleys of the Allier and the Sioule, the Chaîne des Puys, the Cantal and the Cézallier, the Cévennes and the Nîmes garrigue... in that order!
The Tourmagne is quite the challenge. Go solo or with friends, but you should note that it climbs up to 1490 metres, where the only frost-free month is July!
